God gives us vision or insight into His plans for our lives. We often watch that vision turn to dust, at which point we intensely engage God. After awhile the vision is fulfilled (often not quite as we saw it). Along the way, God has drawn us into deeper relationship with him.

Ernie Hunt, a kamaaina, was born and raised on Oahu. He attended Punahou, several other public and private schools graduated from Chaminade with a degree in Psychology. As a teen, he was a volunteer at the State Hospital where he developed a heart for helping others. Now retired from the family business (Island Paradise School), he has time to do what he really enjoys: helping others find God’s plan for their life through Gateways groups and Bible study. Aside from “office hours”, he can usually be found in the courtyard at HCKB on Friday nights and Sundays- available to anyone with a problem.
His wife, JoDee, relocated from Southern California permanently in 1960 to work at Kuakini Hospital in Health Information Management. She still works there in medical research and also does HIM consulting for long term care facilities. She married, divorced, remarried, found Al-Anon and the Lord in that order, and was widowed in 1979 with 3 children to raise. In the Lord’s wisdom and foresight, this was all training for future ministry. She and Ernie met at a Hope Chapel mini church and married in 1984. She is on the HCKB Women in the Word team and currently facilitates a Bible Study on campus on Monday nights.
The Hunts have been members of Hope Chapel since the early weeks in 1983. They were also members of the church plant teams that went to Hope Chapel Kahaluu and Hope Chapel West Oahu. They are firm supporters of Minichurch, having been members of several over the years and hosting one currently. Having come from AA and Al-Anon personally, they have always been interested in Recovery ministry. They are convinced that only Jesus gives us the reason and ability to seek and sustain recovery as well as lead us into a productive and abundant life. Their home is always open to Mainland visitors for R&R and to groups from Hope Chapel who want to use the beach or just hang out.
